A Challenge to All Unit Leaders from a Volunteer

We are fast approaching the end of 2005. Volunteers and district
executives are busy recruiting Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers.
This is not an easy task in a year where school enrollment is down or
when many holidays seemingly shrink the schedule to precious few
opportunities to meet parents and children who wish to join us in the
great adventure of Scouting.

I invite you to join us in our effort to recruit new members.

How can you help?

First and foremost, please submit all new membership applications
immediately upon receipt. All too often, we have found it easier to
wait until the end of December when we re-charter our units to submit
applications that we have received as early as September. We need to
be fair and ethical and allow our new Scouts to immediately become
full- fledged members of the BSA. If you need assistance in that
process, please contact your district executive or a 

Scout
 
Service
 
Center

. Someone will be delighted to assist you immediately.

Second, help your unit grow - strong membership and strong programs
mean a strong and fruitful future. In so doing, you will also help
your district reach the coveted status of Quality District. We are
very close to achieving that goal in each and every district of the
council.

Here is my challenge to you!

Before December 15th, 2005,:

Pack Unit Leaders:

Find 3 more tiger Cubs

Find 5 more Cub Scouts (Wolf, Bear or Webelos) - that's just a little
more than one (1) Cub Scout per den!

Troop and Team Unit Leaders:

Find 2 more Boy Scouts and 2 more team members

Crew Advisors

Find 4 more crew members

If you each meet this challenge, your unit, your district and our
council will establish themselves as national leaders in membership
growth. Please submit each application immediately and flood my mail
box with good news as you e-mail me at pdruez at aol.com

recognize your dedication and your support.
