In case anyone is wondering... when a scout goes to an eagle board of review it's very different than a regular one. The boards are district run but still everyone on the board is a volunteer. We are constantly asked to help, especially since we have 2-3 eagles a year. The Winston's have helped out the last several years, I've attended a few and I'm not sure who else has been able to help out. The person in charge has changed and you can be added to the list by sending an email to lisaalexandr at earthlink.net. They are usually Saturdays, 9-noon, every hour. You can help at all or just one. The first time I helped I was given a training booklet, which was very helpful.

During the last year, I have served on seven (or more?) Eagle Boards of Review. I found them fascinating, instructive, and often very inspirational as I've met many young men climbing their last step toward the prestigious rank of Eagle.

In fact, this experience has proven so valuable that I feel we should strongly recommend, or possibly require, the parent(s) of any Scout who is approaching Eagle rank to serve on an Eagle Board of Review. This is the best way for us parents, especially those of us who were not Scouts ourselves, to understand what "Eagle" really means.

  What do you think?
