I agree with some of Bruce W's misgivings but I do not think they are fatal to the project.

Casey should get the approvals from the schools to leave the boxes, and then come back to us.  I agree with Bruce that this should be a prerequisite.

In terms of getting enough volunteers, he can just keep the project going until sufficient hours are accumulated (this has been done with a number of other projects that have required a second weekend, etc.).

As to sorting out the coats, having made a lot of donations over the years, I don't think it is up to the donor to judge suitability; there are always people who can use old clothes, no matter what the condition, and the various entities, like the National Council of Jewish Women and Goodwill don't turn anything down (at least in my experience).  When I volunteered at the Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen in the 1970s, they took clothes that they would turn into cleaning rags if the homeless didn't want them.  So I do not think that sorting out is necessary.

In short, if he gets the school approvals, I endorse the project; if not, we can go from there.
