[Eagleprojects] Meeting

The Troop Advancement Committee and I would like to set up a meeting with
you and Drake to discuss his progress towards Eagle. Please let me know
which evenings you and Drake are free to meet with me and the Advancement
Committee. I will then try to accommodate as many members of the committee
as possible in deciding on a date and time to meet.

 

As far as getting back to you and Drake, I talked to Drake on Thursday night
and told him my concerns about him doing his Eagle Project at this time. On
Friday, Drake, using your email, emailed Peter Reich requesting information
on who needs to approve the project. Peter redirected Drake to me and Drake
called me again. The committee decided to have someone from the committee
(Ami) to talk to Drake instead of me so I did not call Drake or reply to
your request until Ami had made her phone call.

There is no requirement that Eagle candidates earn their Merit Badges or
complete their leadership prior to doing their projects. The issue that the
Advancement Committee and I have with Drake is his maturity and leadership
ability to conduct an Eagle Project. Drake was also notified during his Life
Scoutmaster's Conference that he needed to demonstrate more leadership for
Eagle by serving as an Assistant Senior Patrol Leader or Senior Patrol
Leader and that before he could start his project, he needs to present a
written proposal for approval prior to starting his project. Drake initialed
and signed this agreement. Normally, he would have been given a copy, but at
the time we did not have a copy machine at the shack. Ami mentioned that you
stated that I approved Drake's project in January. I only remember Drake
coming to me asking if doing a blood drive for his Eagle Project would be OK
and I said it would be a project that could be approved. I did not know and
he did not tell me that he was going to start his project right away.
