[Philmont 2007] Fwd: Hike--one week from today (Sunday)

Philmont participants,

  Carolyn asked me to pass this information on to the group.  I apologize for the delay.  Hopefully next Sunday's hike can be discussed today during the car wash today.  See you there!

  I have not been to any of the Philmont meetings, so I am not sure what has previously been discussed.

  Thanks very much if you can help on this.  The training hike will be on Sunday, the 20th of September.  It is important that the Philmont boys attend.  It will be up Strawberry peak (Angeles Crest)  or near Malibu.  Drive time less than one hour.

  Boys should bring their backpacks and hiking boots.  The backpacks should have a sleeping bag attached and some light gear--including lunch.  More details to follow on gear. 

  Meet at Scout shack at 7:00 a.m.  Back by 4:00 latest.  

  Perhaps other boys in the senior patrol would like to come--they could just bring day packs with lunch.

  At least one more adult, besides Tony and I would be welcome.  All adults who want to come are welcome.  The hike will be moderate--and I mean it.  The guide books rate these hikes.  I take lots of people, and I go with the Sierra Club, so I am very clear about moderate versus strenuous.  This is meant to be a fun hike, with the boys getting some practice etc. with their backpacks.  Boots are a must--unless someone has special dispensation from me.  I think that says it all.
